Parlour Games Series
Parlour Games is a series of fifteen mixed-media artworks on panel which explores the boundaries of acceptability in the artwork we choose to display in our homes, utilizing unusual motifs, color pairings, and varying levels of chaos in design.

I named La Tempête, which translates to “tempest” in French, after a storm as tempestuous as the image. I hear clashing in this artwork’s discordant colors, a thunderous rumble in the scoring and searing of its surface, and I feel electricity in the shimmer of the gilded surfaces.

Les Amas Nuageux means heap of clouds in French. The puffy cloud shapes of the lichens and drawings in this piece make me think of cumulus clouds multiplying in the sky before a storm on a hot summer day…

The silvery background in this piece, the lacy patterns of the overlapping lichens and mold spores, and the icy palette of greens and blues mixed with warm oranges make me think of ice flowers (the translation of the title) on a window catching the sun’s rays at sunrise…
